Over Christmas we went to London and visited some visual effects studios. I was an amazing trip and seeing the companies made me want to do more visual effects in my work, rather than concentrating more on editing. Therefore I decided I would change something in my project so that I had the opportunity to do some more visual effects work. I decided that the shots at the beginning of my video that feature objects on the ground and around my locations would be the ones to feature more visual effects. I thought that rather than shooting the objects on location, I would shoot them on green screen and then add them to background plates that I could shoot on set. I really like green screen extraction and think that if I can do it well, it will be a little bit of extra visual effects for my showreel. So shooting the green screen footage is the first thing I have done this week to get back into my project after a break over Christmas.
I have also planned two more shoots this weekend to shoot two more of my girls, although this is highly dependant on the weather. The shoots are all arranged but if the snow that has been forecast is bad then I will need to postpone, again! Having to keep postponing shoots because of the weather is really frustrating because I had a great schedule in place for this project and having to keep pushing back the shoots is going to start eating into my post production time, which will put even more pressure on me! If I am unable to shoot this weekend I am going to start editing the footage from the first shoot with Rhiannon and start chroma keying the green screen footage. Atleast this way I will still be doing something and it will mean less post work to do later on.
Fingers crossed the snow holds off until Sunday!
